22 weeks

We had our 22 week check up today. It was wonderful to hear Squirt's heartbeat again. For the first time since we first heard the heartbeat it was very hard to find. Our midwife teased and said you were being stubborn and really didn't want us to hear you today because you kept moving out of the way. You even gave a big kick that she could see when she tried again. We finally got to hear it for a few seconds. Kent and I got to feel your head, it was strange and wonderful all at the same time. It's really neat to be able to tell where you are and how you are positioned.
After our appointment, Kent's parents came over for dinner. They brought the cradle which will be your very first bed! Your cousins have all slept in it and it is a wonderful family tradition that we are excited to have you be a part of soon too. Grace, Libby, and Luka have all slept in the cradle and there are beautiful engravings to keep track of everyone throughout the years. Some day your little brother or sister will also get to sleep there. It's a wonderful thing! So much history! It was great to go out to dinner and wonderful to see the Yunges. They are really getting excited for you too. Everyone is commenting now on how big you are getting. Only a few weeks left and I can't wait!

Nursery

Jaclyn came up this weekend to help your Kent and I set up the nursery. We met on Friday at Ikea to do some last minute shopping and get some inspiration. A little shopping lasted all night. We ended up getting 3 bar stools for the kitchen, a new dresser and night stand table for our room, and then a billion and a half odds and ends to decorate Squirt's room with. We drove back home in a terrible snow storm, but we all made it home safe. That night we were up until 2 am working on the bar stools, setting up the dresser, and the night stand table. I was exhausted. Squirt had a blast, and kicked and squirmed the entire time we were building!
Saturday we slept in, we got up and got a quick breakfast. Then Jaclyn and I started organizing the nursery. Kent and I had really thrown everything in the room as we got things so it was a big mess. We started with the basics like laundry and opening up all of the toys and gifts we had gotten so far. Kent was busy building a bookshelf for your closet all day in the basement. Jaclyn and I then started making the curtains. We found a beautiful pattern online that we really centered around for the rest of the nursery's inspiration. I had fun learning how to make curtains, they really were not that hard! By the end of the day, we had your room set up, organized, and curtains up. We still need to get our wooden whale to hang above your crib, hang the paper lanterns, and hang all of the frames (and add pictures and decorations to them all!). Overall we did get a lot done. Kent even finished the closet shelves and Jaclyn and Kent brought it up and set it up in the closet. It looks great! It really feels like we are getting ready for you now. We even set up the pack and play for you in the living room. It's great looking around the house and thinking about you being here soon!

Jaclyn left on Sunday and Kent and I took it easy all day to recover from a long weekend! Very well worth it! Thanks again Jaclyn for all of your help.
