I can do this!

My day began with the "what was I thinking! I can't reupholster chairs!". I quickly searched how to do it, and review wonderful instructions from YHL, I was back to the I can do it feeling and thought about that silly story "I think I can I think I can..."

So, my adventure with our new chairs begins. I took off to Hobby Lobby today to find some awesome fabric for our chairs. Success! I found this wonderful blue pattern that will look great on the chairs! Score! Plus they were on sale - still expensive but they were on sale!

Then I was off to Lowes for some primer, paint, a sander, and some painting tools. Again success! I found a great paint color that matched our kitchen and the new fabric. Man! I'm was on a roll!

Once back home, I decided to see what I had with these chairs. I grabbed a screwdriver and took of the seat. Wow! Easy again! Four screws later I had the top off and was looking at the cushion. YHL recommends reupholstering right over the old stuff, but our chairs had this band along the side that we didn't want to keep, plus they had a smell so I figured out with the old :) I began to pull out the staples. It was a long and tedious job, but I removed the five old fabric covers and was ready to try the new ones.

I centered the fabric, and put one staple one the four sides to even it all out. Then I stapled like a mad woman. It took two attempts with the corners. But it was really just like wrapping a present! I did it! The cushion looks great! I did one and stopped because the smell was still getting through the fabric, so I will let the others air our uncovered for a day (or two). Next project... the chairs themselves...

I'm off to a wedding tomorrow, and then the Harry Potter movie on Sunday! (I solemnly swear I am up to no good... and I can't wait!) More chair projects next week.
